Pepsi gets Malaysians bubbling with excitement via AR concert on a bottle

PepsiCo Malaysia is bringing its first AR concert on a bottle to Malaysians, featuring Malaysian singer and actress Siti Nordiana and winners of the #PepsiBoldTalent TikTok challenge held at the end of 2020. Done in collaboration with Entropia’s extended reality arm, the AR concert on a bottle can be activated from 16 April onwards by scanning a bottle of Pepsi Black Raspberry. Upon doing so, an AR Pepsi bottle will load and the concert will play on the bottle itself.

Meanwhile, the four contest winners who will be joining Siti Nordiana are dancer Bell, singer Syafeek, and freestyle footballer Aidil. According to Pepsi, their audition videos garnered close to 1.4 million views each.

PepsiCo Malaysia's beverage marketing lead, Jennifer Lee, said Pepsi has always been a champion of the bold and brave, and this AR concert is a testament to its renewned, innovative approach to engaging with Pepsi fans.

"Today’s consumers want to connect with brands in an instant and feel an immediate impact, so, together with Entropia, we shifted our focus and unlocked unfamiliar yet entertaining territory with this campaign," she said.

At the same time, Entropia's partner and head of EXR, Ramakrishnan CN, said in the throes of the pandemic, it had to consistently reinvent the ways it strategises its communications. More so for an experiential bold brand such as Pepsi, the team had to push the limits.

"We believe the future of brand experiences is fluid and atemporal where all touchpoints should have a branded extended reality layer over them. The iconic Pepsi bottle was the best place to provide the experience," he added. A+M has reached out to Entropia for additional information.

The AR concert on a bottle comes shortly after it tied up with 7-Eleven for a 7-Eleven x Pepsi Concept Store in Malaysia featuring interactive activities such as floor projections, infinity mirrors, and interactive pong games. The store was also done in collaboration with Noir By Entropia and Entropia Xtended Reality.
