J.Walter Thompson’s CEO Gustavo Martinez is in a legal trouble, following a discrimination suit claiming that he made a series of jokes about “raping female colleagues and mocking minorities.”According to reports from the New York Post, JWT's long standing chief comms officer Erin Johnson accused Martinez of passing racist comments on African-American as well as Jewish employees. She also claimed that Martinez, in front of other employees, made sexually harassing remarks on her multiple times. The statement sent to Marketing from JWT’s PR firm Finsbury, read: “I am aware of the recent allegations made by a J. Walter Thompson employee in a suit recently filed in the Federal District Court in Manhattan.”“I want to assure both our clients and my colleagues that I believe I lead this Company with a collaborative and collegial style and did not create the kind of working environment that has been described in the complaint. I welcome the opportunity for the truth to come out and to present more details about this matter at the appropriate time during legal proceedings.”
