Hong Kong's embattled F&B industry is finding ways to survive during the current COVID-19 pandemic with many resorting to offering takeaway services. To help restaurants drum up more business, Instagram has launched a new feature on its platform, offering opportunities for food brands by allowing customers to order their grub via Instagram Stories.
Restaurants using the new feature will be able to receive food orders through Instagram Stories via a button set up on their profiles. According to Instagram, whenever the opportunity for ordering food occurs, customers will be given the chance to make an order. By clicking the Stories sticker or the profile button, customers will be taken to the brand's dedicated food delivery platform to complete their purchase.
To help restaurants increase their exposure, customers will be given the chance to add stickers to their Instagram Stories, so their followers can see what they have ordered, in turn promoting the restaurant.
