Luckin Coffee gets 'stylo' with MILO this National Day

Luckin Coffee is leaning into Singaporeans' love for familiar flavours this National Day through a limited-time collaboration with MILO, as brands continue to tap nostalgia and local tastes to strengthen consumer connections.

Available from 27 July, the collaboration introduces two exclusive beverages: the 'Tiramisu latte' made with MILO and the 'Cocoa-malt frappe' made with MILO. Both drinks will be served in themed packaging, with customers also able to purchase an "Extra shiok set" priced at SG$15.90, which comes with an exclusive mini backpack pouch phone lanyard while stocks last.

The 'Tiramisu latte' made with MILO combines Luckin Coffee's espresso blend with whipped cheese foam, sea salt, parmesan and the cocoa malt flavours of MILO, offering a coffee-inspired take on the classic dessert.

Meanwhile, the 'Cocoa-malt frappe' made with MILO features a generous amount of MILO powder blended into an iced frappe and finished with the brand's signature MILO dusting.

In conversation with MARKETING-INTERACTIVE, Luckin Coffee said the collaboration was designed to reimagine a drink that has long been part of Singaporeans' everyday lives into a modern coffee experience.

The company said MILO occupies a unique place in Singapore's culture, from memories of the iconic school sports day MILO vans to everyday kopitiam orders of "MILO gao". By combining those familiar flavours with its contemporary beverage offerings, Luckin Coffee said it hopes to celebrate the everyday moments associated with National Day while appealing to consumers across different age groups.

The collaboration also reflects the brand's wider strategy of strengthening its connection with Singaporean consumers by drawing on flavours and lifestyle habits that already resonate locally.

Rather than creating a campaign centred purely around National Day, Luckin Coffee said it focused on taste and cultural relevance, using an iconic flavour profile that consumers already know and enjoy before giving it a contemporary twist. It added that the objective extends beyond driving trial and sales, with success also measured by what it described as the "happiness metric", how well the beverages bridge nostalgia with modern coffee culture and create joyful experiences during the festive period.

The launch also includes a limited-edition mini backpack pouch phone lanyard, which the company said reflects its approach to merchandise as practical lifestyle accessories rather than simple collectibles. Designed to function as a lanyard, pouch and bag charm, the item aims to integrate the brand into customers' everyday routines while adding an element of fun.

Alongside the MILO collaboration, Luckin Coffee has also expanded its local-inspired menu with its "Taste of Nanyang" range. Launched on 13 July, the series includes a 'Brown sugar latte' and 'Brown sugar oat latte', inspired by the rich 'gula melaka' ('palm sugar') flavours commonly found in traditional Nanyang-style beverages.

Luckin Coffee added that consumers can expect more collaborations inspired by familiar flavours in the coming months as it continues exploring partnerships with regional and international brands centred on flavour innovation.

The latest collaboration comes a month after Luckin Coffee teamed up with Toy Story 5 for a limited-time campaign featuring themed beverages, packaging and collectibles. Launched on 11 June, the "Play mode: ON" initiative introduced two character-inspired drinks alongside a range of merchandise designed to tap into the franchise's enduring themes of imagination and friendship.

At the time, a Luckin Coffee spokesperson told MARKETING-INTERACTIVE that the partnership was chosen for its cross-generational appeal and the emotional connection consumers have with the beloved Pixar franchise.
