Google Play (formerly Android Market) has revealed its annual "Best Of" list for 2020, naming the apps, games, books, movies and shows that got us through a year that many will probably like to forget.

With many gyms closed throughout 2020 due to social distancing and government restrictions, it's probably no surprise that fitness apps were a huge hit. Google Play Hong Kong's Best App of 2020 went to Nüli — Home & Gym Workouts, which features a variety of step-by-step workout plans for beginners and advanced users.

In no particular order, Google Play also named the best apps for Fun (Reface, Vita, Bazaart, Instories, Boosted), Everyday Essentials (Grid Diary, Whisk, Microsoft Office, Sleep Theory, ZOOM), Good (ShareTheMeal), Hidden Gems (Ho Jeng AR, Ad Director, Tayasui Sketches, lingduck, Co-Star Personalized Astrology), and Personal Growth (Timecap, Paired, Centr, Cake, Nüli).

Google Play Hong Kong's best game of the year went to Genshin Impact, a visually-stunning RPG adventure that takes users on a journey through the fantasy open-world of Teyvat.

In the users' choice category, the top apps were Sleep Theory, Cake, and Microsoft Office, while users' favourite games were Genshin Impact, Slam Dunk, and Guardian Tales.

To help celebrate the year's top apps and games, Google Play users have until 15 December to earn 10 additional Google Play points by downloading Nüli, Sleep Theory, Microsoft Office, and Cake. Additionally, users who make in-app purchases in Genshin Impact, Slam Dunk, and Guardian Tales are eligible to receive up to 4x points until 7 December.

The full list of winners is available here.
