5 job shuffles that got our readers in HK excited

In July this year, Hong Kong's employment market showed signs of improvement as the city's unemployment rate dropped to 5.5% for the three-month period ending in June. Meanwhile, according to a report on SCMP, unemployment rate fell 0.2 percentage points between August and October.

In the MARKETING-INTERACTIVE newsroom, we saw some notable appointments this year in the industry. As part of our year end roundups, we’ve decided to unveil the top five job moves and promotions that got our readers excited.

1.Michael Yue, general manager, sales and operations at Googlemichael yue googleGoogle Hong Kong has appointed Michael Yue as general manager, sales and operations. Yue joined the company in 2011 and has held sales leadership and strategic partnership positions. With strong business acumen and entrepreneurial mindset, he has been partnering with businesses across retail, e-commerce, media and entertainment, and financial services sectors on digital strategy in APAC. Most recently, he was the global head of sales strategy and enablement, responsible for the development and growth of Google’s advertising sales force.

2. Charmaine Wu, marketing director of McDonald's Hong Kong

Earlier this year, McDonald's Hong Kong promoted Charmaine Wu as marketing director.
Prior to taking up the role, she was assistant marketing director from August 2019 to July 2021. Wu has also in the past worked for The Hong Kong Jockey Club as membership marketing manager; The Hong Kong Tourism Board as brand marketing manager, and PCCW as marketing communications manager.  She also worked for Unilever and L'Oreal in the earlier stage of her career.

3.  Brian Lo and Andrew Hui, GM of Deliveroo

Deliveroo Hong Kong general manager Brian Lo (pictured left) left the company after six years of service, and replacing him is former Starbucks Coffee Hong Kong general manager Andrew Hui (pictured right).  Lo announced the news of his departure on his LinkedIn. He said he is leaving after six years of "intensely challenging and rewarding" experiences at the company. Meanwhile, Hui is a veteran in the catering industry. He was general manager of Starbucks Hong Kong and Macau from October 2018 to September 2021.

4. Winradit Kolasastraseni, GM direct-to-consumer for Hong Kong, Taiwan and Southeast Asia

The Walt Disney Company has appointed Winradit Kolasastraseni as general manager, direct-to-consumer for Hong Kong, Taiwan and Southeast Asia (excluding Indonesia), and general manager of the Walt Disney (Thailand) company effective 1 June. In his new role, Kolasastraseni will be responsible for spearheading the company’s growth in the dynamic direct-to-consumer space, and will lead business teams across the region to deliver Disney’s storytelling to consumers in the evolving ways that fans and families around the world prefer to experience Disney’s content.

5. Haymans Fung, chief customer officer, MOX

haymans fungMox Bank appointed Haymans Fung as chief customer officer in August to replace Peony Wu, who joined Accenture Interactive as managing director, marketing advisory lead for Greater China. In Fung's new position, she is responsible for building and enhancing the customer experience for Mox Bank, and her role covers brand proposition development, customer experience design, marketing and analytics. Boasting more than 19 years of experience in building close connections between brands and customers, Fung believes in combining data with insights, using technology and creativity to create compelling customer propositions and brands. Prior to joining Mox, she spent nine years at Sun Life and AIA.
