Indonesian coatings brand Propan Raya has sharpened its sustainability narrative at this year’s ARCH:ID 2026 – recognised as the country’s largest annual architecture exhibition – to reinforce a long-term shift toward environmentally responsible materials.

Held from 23-26 April at ICE BSD, the exhibition brought together architects, interior designers, and creative industry players to explore emerging trends and solutions shaping Indonesia’s built environment. For Propan, the event served as both a showcase and a strategic touchpoint to influence industry behaviour.

Anchored by the theme “Propan green coatings for sustainable architecture”, the company reiterated a commitment it says has been in motion since 2011: transitioning from solvent-based products to water-based alternatives that are safer for users and contribute to lower emissions.

That direction was further amplified through its campaign, “Go to water based, save the planet”, which positions sustainability not just as a product feature, but as a broader call to action for architects and specifiers.

The message reflects a growing shift in the construction and design ecosystem, where material choices are increasingly scrutinised for their environmental and health impact – an area where coatings, often overlooked, play a critical role.

At the booth, Propan leaned into tangible demonstrations of its sustainability strategy, showcasing a portfolio of water-based solutions designed to meet green building standards while maintaining performance.

Highlighted products included WB PU Hygiene Wood, WB PU Colour Multipurpose, WB Epoxy Floor, WB Multipox, WB Cerakote, WB Epoxy Primer, Aqua Primtop DTM, and Decowall. The range spans applications from wood and walls to industrial flooring, signalling the brand’s intent to embed water-based solutions across multiple use cases.

Beyond product display, Propan also presented a wider suite of coatings – from wall and texture paints to wood finishes – many of which have already been deployed in architectural projects across Indonesia.

“This is the largest architecture exhibition in Indonesia, attended by practitioners and professionals from across the country. We hope Propan’s presence can raise awareness of the importance of using water-based products as a healthier and more environmentally friendly painting solution,” said Kris Rianto Adidarma, CEO of Propan Raya.

To deepen engagement, the brand incorporated interactive booth activations, including live painting activities and prize-based participation mechanics. These efforts aimed to create a more immersive brand experience while encouraging closer interaction with its product range.

By aligning innovation, campaign messaging, and on-ground experience, the company is positioning itself not just as a coatings supplier, but as an advocate for greener, healthier, and more responsible architecture.
