Singtel has unveiled its National Day film for 2026, using the occasion to reinforce its role in Singapore's digital transformation and position itself as an enabler of the nation's AI ambitions.

Titled "Beyond connection", the film traces Singapore's journey from independence in 1965 to its aspirations of becoming a smart nation and regional AI hub. Alongside the country's evolution, the film chronicles Singtel's own transformation from a national telecommunications provider into a digital infrastructure and services group.

The campaign highlights the company's investments in subsea cables, satellite communications, advanced mobile networks and AI-ready data centres, positioning them as the digital backbone supporting Singapore's next phase of growth.

Blending archival footage with present-day scenes, the film showcases Singtel's role across industries including healthcare, manufacturing, aviation, maritime and construction. Selected historical images were also enhanced using AI-assisted production tools to improve visual quality while preserving their authenticity.

Among the initiatives featured are the Hyundai Motor Group Innovation Center Singapore's 5G-enabled smart factory, the National University Health System's use of Holomedicine for complex surgeries, Changi Airport's autonomous baggage operations, and PSA Tuas Port's fully automated container terminal.

Beyond technology, the film also highlights Singtel's longstanding community initiatives, including the Singtel Touching Lives Fund, its support for the arts through the Singtel Waterfront Theatre at the Esplanade and the Singtel Special Exhibition Gallery at National Gallery Singapore, as well as its 15-year partnership with the Singapore National Olympic Council.

"The story of Singapore has always been one of looking beyond the horizon and building for the future. Every generation has played a part in building a stronger foundation for the next and this includes investing in the infrastructure and capabilities that have helped us dream bigger," said Yuen Kuan Moon, group CEO of Singtel.

"As AI reshapes economies and societies, we are entering another defining chapter. As national telco to today's digital infrastructure and services group, we feel privileged that we can continue playing a part in driving Singapore's Smart Nation ambitions and continued success by building the digital backbone that will help Singapore seize new opportunities in the AI era," he added.

According to Lian Pek, vice president of group corporate affairs and investor relations at Singtel, the campaign departs from the company's traditional National Day messaging by focusing on Singapore's next chapter.

"With the world on the cusp of an AI-driven revolution, it is even more critical that a company with our DNA helps Singapore make its way in the brave new world while leaving no one behind. We know Singaporeans' determination and resilience will always prevail and we celebrate that in the film while also reaffirming our support for the nation through innovation, partnerships and community," she said.

"Beyond connection" will air during the National Day Parade and across Singtel TV, YouTube and the company's social media channels.

National Day campaigns have increasingly become a platform for brands to communicate their long-term purpose beyond patriotic messaging. Last year, Singtel marked Singapore's 60th year of independence with "Majulah Singapura", a National Day film that traced the country's technological evolution through the changing face of the National Day Parade.

Featuring archival footage alongside present-day celebrations, the campaign showcased how communications technology has transformed Singapore, from analogue systems to 5G connectivity, while positioning the telco as a longstanding partner in the nation's digital development.
