Genetics and diagnostic health testing company Prenetics is collaborating with boyband MIRROR's member Ian Chan in a campaign promoting its COVID-19 home detection system.

Chan was commissioned by the brand as product ambassador and, performer in the commercial’s song It's a Brand New Day for Circle HealthPod, a rapid detection system providing Polymerase chain reaction-quality (PCR) results for COVID-19 in around 20 minutes. In the commercial, Chan sings about his dream to reconnect with the world, the community, and the people around him through Circle HealthPod, adding that the test can bring affirmation, peace of mind, and protection to the community. A series of ads will be launching on ViuTV and other touchpoints includes Chan's Instagram.

Prenetics said there were a number of reasons for collaborating with Chan in the latest campaign. In addition to his musical talent, Chan was also a former member of the Hong Kong Men’s Volleyball Team and a sports enthusiast. Prenetics said his positive health image made him the suitable product ambassador, encouraging individuals to resume normal life and be health-conscious.

"We are extremely excited to partner with Ian and believe that his energetic image will deliver positive energy to consumers. His enthusiasm for music also resonates with Circle HealthPod’s aim to bring people closer together, making this collaboration between technology and music a congenial one," Danny Yeung, co-founder and group CEO of Prenetics.

Prenetics said Circle HealthPod, developed by the University of Oxford, is one of the world's most advanced home detection systems. It is a pocket-sized lab that provides 98.4% accuracy in the detection of COVID-19, including 99.9% of known virus strains such as the Delta variant virus. The HealthPod takes around 20 minutes to deliver PCR-quality results to individuals directly on the HealthPod or via its mobile application

"Since the pandemic, our daily lives have been distanced and separated, both socially and physically. We believe that everyone shares the same sentiment and hope that revolutionary science and technology can bring positive changes to society and reconnect people," Yeung added.
