The Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI) has appointed GOVT VCCP and We. Communications to lead communications for Singapore's "ASEAN Chairmanship 2027" campaign, with the agencies tasked to support the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) workstream.

The appointment follows a competitive pitch process, with GOVT VCCP and We. Communications engaged as a consortium for the communications mandate.

Under the remit, GOVT VCCP will lead the campaign's integrated creative and strategic direction, overseeing campaign strategy, key visuals, video and social content, as well as experiential activations throughout Singapore's Chairmanship year.

Meanwhile, We. Communications will spearhead the public relations and earned media strategy, driving media engagement and communications around key campaign milestones.

Together, the agencies will develop creative, content and media initiatives aimed at raising awareness of Singapore's role as ASEAN Chair among local audiences, while positioning the country as a trusted and forward-looking economic partner to regional businesses and communities.

Singapore will assume the ASEAN Chairmanship in 2027, with communications activities set to roll out in the lead-up to and throughout the Chairmanship year.

The ASEAN Economic Community pillar focuses on strengthening regional economic integration, facilitating trade and enhancing competitiveness across ASEAN's 11 member states.

"ASEAN 2027 is one of the most significant platforms Singapore will host in a generation. But the hard part isn't the scale. It's making something as big as a regional economy feel personal and real for people, whether they're here at home or across the region. That's the work we're setting out to do, where creativity, commerce, and conviction meet," said Khoo Kai Qi, client service director, GOVT VCCP.

In tandem, Daryl Ho, managing director, We. Communications Singapore said, "Singapore's ASEAN Chairmanship presents an opportunity for the region's priorities and progress to resonate beyond the room, and we are grateful for MTI’s trust in us to help amplify that story."

"This creative and communications collaboration with GOVT VCCP strengthens our ability to offer clients an integrated model that combines creative thinking with communications strategy, helping ideas move seamlessly from concept to conversation," he added.

The appointment builds on recent public sector wins for both agencies. Earlier this year, GOVT VCCP was named the Central Provident Fund (CPF) Board's integrated marketing agency under a one-year contract, with the option to extend for up to two years.

Meanwhile, We. Communications was appointed by HomeTeamNS to produce editorial content for its digital magazine, Frontline, over the next two years, with the remit spanning articles, videos and social media content highlighting the service and contributions of National Servicemen from the Singapore Police Force and Singapore Civil Defence Force.
