McDonald’s and Nestlé spread joy across town with KITKAT pop-up store

McDonald's Hong Kong and Nestlé Hong Kong have joined forces to launch a strategic partnership that aims to bring high-quality desserts to customers at affordable prices and spread joy through indulgent treats.
Leading the collaboration is the launch of the "KITKAT chocolate wafer flavour sundae series" (KITKAT 朱古力威化味新地系列), marking KITKAT’s debut sundae product in Hong Kong.
As part of the initiative, McDonald’s has reimagined the city’s inaugural dessert station in Kowloon Park, established in 1997, as a KITKAT pop-up concept store, available from 31 May to 20 August. The venue’s exterior features a giant chocolate wafer installation alongside a large-scale double-chocolate sundae cone display, designed to immerse customers in a sensory experience of indulgence prior to sampling the desserts and serve as a prime photography destination for chocolate enthusiasts.
Ahead of the product launch, the brands hosted an opening ceremony at the Kowloon Park dessert station on 30 May, featuring Ian Chan, a singer-songwriter and member of the local boy band MIRROR, to engage diverse demographic groups.

The new series comprises three sundae offerings, including the KITKAT sundae cone, KITKAT sundae cone (with dark chocolate wafer), and KITKAT parfait,. Launched on 31 May at all McDonald’s dessert stations across Hong Kong and Macau, the items are being offered in limited quantities on a first-come, first-served basis until stock depletion.

Beyond the exclusive sundae offerings, other innovative desserts will be introduced at the rest of the 102 dessert stations in town soon. Since 2009, McDonald's Hong Kong and Nestlé Hong Kong have been partnering to launch various limited-time desserts. These include flavoured sundaes such as purple sweet potato or strawberry varieties paired with KITKAT chocolate wafers, chocolate-crispy strawberry McFlurries, and, more recently, flaky chocolate pies.
Randy Lai, chief executive officer of McDonald's Hong Kong, said, "As McDonald's Hong Kong celebrates its 50th anniversary, we are delighted to become strategic partners with Nestlé Hong Kong and transform all 102 dessert stations into KITKAT dessert stations. Given the long-standing popularity of McDonald's sundaes among the public, we have, for the first time, jointly launched an exclusive sundae with KITKAT. In the future, we will continue to work together to roll out different high-quality desserts, striving to bring continuous surprises to customers and create more sweet moments."
Simon Cheung, managing director of NESTLÉ Hong Kong, said, "Nestlé Hong Kong is extremely pleased to enter into a long-term partnership with McDonald's Hong Kong. We share the same goal of providing customers with higher-quality, innovative, and diversified dessert delicacies. We look forward to enabling more customers to easily taste the creative and unique new flavours through this long-term cooperation within the McDonald's dessert station network, allowing the general public to experience the charm of desserts."
