Former McCann Worldgroup ECD of Southeast Asia, Mark Ringer, has joined Australia-based creative agency Futago as chief creative. Ringer (pictured centre) has also joined Futago's leadership team, alongside managing director Daniel Zika (pictured left) and design director Kate Owen (pictured right), as a partner in the business. According to Futago, Ringer's appointment "adds breadth and depth" to its existing team.

Established 15 years ago, Futago boasts a clientele which consists of businesses, government, and organisations across Australia and Asia. Some of the companies it has worked with, according to its website, include the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery, the department of education, Lark Distillery, and The Bowmont.

Ringer last helmed the position of ECD for Southeast Asia at McCann, which was an expansion of his previous remit of regional creative director for Mastercard for the Asia Pacific market and ECD for McCann Worldgroup Singapore. Prior to his role with McCann, Ringer was with dentsu as its creative director for over a year. He has also worked in markets such as Australia, Hong Kong and London for agencies such as TBWA\, DDB, FCB and many others.

“I have known Zika and Owen for nearly 10 years, they have established Futago as a successful, highly regarded and awarded design studio that is of both substance and style. To be offered partnership is an utter honour. Together, we will build a creative company that is sought-after, selective, and is built around being conscious of what brands and the businesses behind them need to succeed," Ringer said.

According to Zika, Ringer brings clout, gravitas, inspiration, culture and work ethic to the agency. “Ringer isn’t a regular creative, he’s shown industry leadership and had plenty international success," he said, adding that Ringer is passionate about Tasmania and how it is projected into the world.

Owen said: “Design in all its forms has been our killer-app, but the opportunity to broaden Futago’s offering to solve business problems as a more strategic creative company is super exciting. This day couldn’t come soon enough.”
