VivoCity is bringing Super Mario into the real world this festive season, with a 10-metre-tall inflatable of the Nintendo character set to take centre stage at the shopping mall.

Running from 13 November to 27 December, "Super Mario holiday power-up at VivoCity" marks a collaboration between VivoCity and Nintendo, featuring themed installations, gaming experiences, character meet-and-greets and festive shopping rewards.

The inflatable, which will be Singapore's first of its kind at the 10-metre scale, will emerge from a giant green warp pipe at VivoCity's Outdoor Plaza. It will headline six themed discovery zones featuring oversized warp pipes, question mark blocks, golden coins, character displays and illuminated festive installations.

Visitors can also catch VivoCity's snowfall sessions against the backdrop of the installations, which will take place at 7.30pm and 8.30pm from Tuesday to Sunday throughout the campaign period.

Beyond the outdoor displays, the collaboration will extend into the mall with a Nintendo pop-up store at Central Court from 1 to 27 December. The store will carry official merchandise from Japan, including a pop-up exclusive Super Mario winter collection plushie range.

Gaming experiences will also feature as part of the programme, with Nintendo Switch 2 game demos running from 20 November to 27 December. Visitors can try titles including Mario Kart World, Pokémon Pokopia, Splatoon Raiders, Pikmin 4 and Nintendo Switch Sports Resort.

The mall will also host the Mario Kart World Challenge on 5 to 6 and 19 to 20 December, giving visitors the opportunity to compete against other players for prizes.

Character appearances will add to the festivities, with Mario and Luigi scheduled to meet visitors on 5 to 6, 12 to 13 and 19 to 20 December. Shoppers who spend a minimum of SG$100 in a single same-day receipt can redeem a meet-and-greet pass.

The campaign also ties into VivoCity's 20th anniversary celebrations, with the mall positioning the collaboration as a year-end attraction for families, shoppers and Nintendo fans.

"As VivoCity celebrates its 20th anniversary, we wanted to close the year with something special for our shoppers. VivoCity has long been a place for families and friends to come together and make memories. Through our collaboration with Nintendo, we hope to bring a playful new dimension to the holidays and give everyone more reasons to celebrate together," said Gwen Au, vice president of marketing communications at MPACT Property Management.

Shoppers can also redeem a range of festive rewards through VivoRewards. These include a Super Mario eco bag duo set for members who spend at least SG$300 across a maximum of two same-day receipts, while gold members who spend at least SG$500 can qualify for an additional SG$20 mystery eVoucher.

Separately, new VivoRewards members who make a qualifying first purchase of SG$150 can receive a SG$5 VivoCity eVoucher, while Kids Club members can receive a SG$10 store eVoucher with a minimum spend of SG$150 at participating stores.

The festive programme will also include the return of the TANGS Christmas Market, featuring more than 50 brands selling festive treats, lifestyle products and gifts from 1 to 27 December.

The Super Mario collaboration follows another entertainment-led activation by VivoCity earlier this year. In May, the mall turned its outdoor plaza into a giant toy box inspired by Disney and Pixar's "Toy Story 5", with oversized installations, carnival games, themed photo spots and merchandise pop-ups.
