



Lion & Lion Malaysia hires business director Wai Sim Liew

Digital marketing agency, Lion & Lion has appointed Wai Sim Liew as business director of Malaysia. In her role, she will oversee the client service department to further build on the agency's dedication towards helping brands unlock growth. She reports to managing director of Malaysia Jeppe Carlsen.
In accordance with the agency's "creatively-drive, digital-first" commitment, Liew (pictured) will be taking a focused look at strengthening how the agency delivers work for its clients, while ensuring that the creativity and sound strategy remains at the core of all activities. Inspired by her previous work with the agency, Liew said she is thrilled to join this "dynamic team" that is "bursting" with individual talents. "I am looking forward to working closely with every one of them to deliver business-orientated impact for our clients," added Liew.
With 14 years of experience in the communications, advertising and media industry, Liew built her career in other agencies such as Publicis, Leo Burnett and BBDO/Proximity, said her LinkedIn. Prior to joining Lion & Lion, Liew helmed the role of client service director in Ogilvy for close to 10 months. She initially joined Ogilvy as its group account director for over two years, before taking on the role of business director for a year. Throughout her career, Liew has worked on or managed accounts of several consumer and corporate brands. These include brands such as Coca-Cola, Citibank, McDonald’s, Nestlé, Celcom, Samsung, Guinness, AXA , AIG , VISA and among others.
Carlsen has welcomed Liew into the agency's senior management team, "where she can apply her breadth of experience supporting clients from a wide range of industries." Recently, the agency has experienced strong growth, particularly in the accounts section where there is a regional. Carlsen added the agency intends to continue this momentum, especially with the addition of Liew where her "her entrepreneurial spirit and ability to deliver impactful results" will be invaluable for positive business growth.
In July, the agency appointed Jonn Dogra as its head of brand experience. Reporting directly to chief product officer, Cheelip Ong, Dogra will further strengthen creative excellence across the group and power the development of connected brand experiences to drive impactful bonds with users and consumers. Also in this year, the agency hired Ham Maghazeh as head of social media to fuel future social innovation for business growth across the company’s key markets and offices. Also reporting to Ong, he is responsible for propelling the company’s value to deliver a genuine impact for businesses in Southeast Asia by enabling creative solutions for experiential and integrated campaigns.
