Leadership shake-up at Clemenger Group as CEO Les Timar steps down

Les Timar will step down as chief executive of Clemenger Group at the end of June, bringing to a close a 27-year career with the business.
Timar has held several leadership roles since joining in 1998, following the group’s acquisition of strategic communications consultancy GRACosway. He was appointed CEO in 2021 and has overseen Clemenger Group’s diverse portfolio, including leading agencies across Australia and New Zealand.
His departure coincides with a report from The Australian that Omnicom's plans to acquire the remaining employee-owned shares of Clemenger Group, increasing its ownership from 86.84% to 100%. A shareholder vote on the deal is scheduled for June 30.
In the interim, Adrian Ciabotti, the group's chief operating and financial officer, will assume leadership responsibilities. BBDO Worldwide is expected to make further announcements regarding Clemenger Group's leadership in due course.
“It has been the greatest privilege of my career to serve as the CEO of this truly extraordinary, storied and diverse company,” Timar said in a statement.
“I’m incredibly proud of the progress we’ve made, the talent we’ve developed and the clients we’ve helped to grow and succeed. The opportunity to lead Clemenger Group and its companies has been a great honour and I thank our people and clients for their unwavering support during my tenure.”
Clemenger Group chairman Robert Morgan, who last week announced his retirement from the business after 45 years, thanked Timar for his long-standing contribution.
“Les has made a significant contribution to our company over many years,” Morgan said. “His commitment, integrity and leadership have been central to the evolution of our group, and he leaves with our deepest thanks and best wishes.”
Timar will continue in his role until the end of June. Clemenger Group has not yet announced his successor.
