Clemenger Group has confirmed the retirement of Robert Morgan, ending a 45-year tenure with the business that spanned from account executive to CEO and chairman of Australia’s largest marketing communications group.
Morgan began his career at Clemenger BBDO Melbourne, rising through the ranks to become managing director of the agency before being appointed CEO and then chairman of the Clemenger Group holding company, a role he held for 23 years.
“It is very rare for someone to have spent such a large part of their career with one company, but Robert has always been the exception to the rule,” Les Timar, CEO of Clemenger Group, said in a statement. “He is a courageous, respected leader who has championed creativity and been instrumental in growing Clemenger Group into the successful network it is today.”
Timar described Morgan as a generous mentor and a tireless advocate for the company’s values, in particular its founding ethos of “Think We, Not Me.”
“Robert’s contribution to our company and our country’s marketing and communications industry has been nothing short of remarkable,” Timar added.
Clemenger is yet to announce a successor or further leadership changes following Morgan’s departure.
