Former partner at Klareco Communications Chelsea Phua (pictured) has joined Lazada Group as vice president of public relations. Phua spent over six years with Klareco Communications, where she last helmed the role of a partner.

Klareco Communications was previously known as Bell Pottinger Asia, and renamed itself after severing ties with parent company Bell Pottinger UK over controversy. Phua joined the PR firm in 2013 and started as an associate partner. Prior to her stint with Klareco Communications, she was previously a senior consultant with Citigate Dewe Rogerson i.MAGE for over two years.

According to her LinkedIn, Phua started her career in the newsroom, starting her career as staff writer with The Providence Journal, a daily newspaper in the US. During her time in the newsroom, Phua also worked with the Associated Press and The Sacramento Bee, a US daily newspaper. Marketing has reached out to Phua and Lazada for comment.

Lazada recently hired Julia Wei from creative agency TSLA to head up the integrated communications. She was previously the GM of TSLA’s Singapore office and also spent close to 10 years with Edelman Singapore. Soon after, Lazada Singapore also elevated Michelle Yip to the role of chief marketing officer, shortly after Jean Thomas left to join Pomelo. Yip last helmed the position of executive vice president, platform governance and seller engagement with Lazada, and was responsible for increasing seller quality and building seller communities and support ecosystems.
