Facebook HK launches privacy checkup programme to protect users

Cybersecurity has been a key issue and Facebook has been launching new functions to raise such awareness among the public. Recently, Facebook Hong Kong has rolled out a privacy checkup function to help users strengthen their account security.
The privacy checkup function consists of four areas. First, users can review who can see their profile information, such as their phone number, email address, as well as posts, followed by the second feature that enables users to review ways in which people can look them up on Facebook and who can send their friend requests.
To help users keep their accounts secure, Facebook will remind users to set a stronger password and turn on login alerts. Last but not least, users can check data settings on Facebook, which enables them to review the information they share with apps they have logged into with Facebook. They can also remove the apps they no longer use.
Starting from today, Facebook users in Hong Kong will see a privacy checkup quick promotion on top of their news feed to perform these features.
This is not Facebook Hong Kong's first initiative to help users secure their accounts. Previously, Facebook has been building awareness of privacy controls in Hong Kong through various initiatives, such as the privacy awareness week, the "Facebook Privacy Know it All" campaign and privacy education illustrations.
The tech giant said this latest initiative underlines its ongoing commitment to providing a safe yet secure online experience for Hong Kong users.
