Are you on McDonald's close friends list in Singapore?

Close friend lists, a list of friends privy to only select things that users post on Instagram Stories, are certainly coveted ones to be on.  McDonald's Singapore though is taking it to the next level with a new close friends list of influencers to (potentially) announce the return of its well-loved McGriddles sandwiches.

Rumors began floating on social media last night that some had been added to McDonald's close friends list when influencer Darshen took to TikTok to share a screengrab of his addition.

Don't miss: Have you heard K-Pop star SUHO's new song on responsible drinking?

"I'm not delulu right? Or is it an intern's mistake?" asked Darshen in the video.  He then clicks into the story which has a post by McDonald's saying, "No, you're not seeing things. Welcome to McGriddles close friends list."

"We've got something special in store for you," the post added.

Darshen then goes on to ask if this means that McGriddles, McDonald's famous breakfast sandwich of hotcake buns, cheese and sausage, is making a comeback.

"Do you think I'm delulu or am I besties with McDonald's now?" asks Darshen.

Other influencers such as Kai and Vanessa Chia, have also taken to TikTok to share that they have been included in the exclusive list.

"I think McDonald's just made an error on their Instagram [page]," said Chia, adding that she was scrolling online when she noticed that she was added to its close friends list.

She then proceeds to share the same Instagram Story that Darshan does and says that she is so excited for McGriddles to come back.

McDonald's has since reposted some of these videos but has otherwise gone quiet on the issue.

MARKETING-INTERACTIVE has since reached out for more information.

This comes as rumors float that the seasonal favorite McGriddles will be coming back this week at all outlets, according to an Instagram post made by the fast-food giant on 26 February.

In the post, McDonald's showed a close up of its hotcake bun with the date, '29.02.24' printed on it.

Stay tuned here for more updates and let us know if you've been added to its close friends list because we want a spot too.
