Amar Bank brings financial backing to ID's creative industry through Rangga & Cinta

Amar Bank is making its debut in Indonesia’s film industry by supporting Rangga & Cinta, a musical reimagining of the cultural classic Ada Apa Dengan Cinta? (AADC). The new film, premiered on 2 October 2025, represents a collaboration between Miles Films and the digital bank’s flagship lending platform, Tunaiku.

For Amar Bank, this move goes beyond sponsorship - it signals a belief in the long-term potential of Indonesia’s creative economy. By contributing financial backing to a major production such as Rangga & Cinta, the bank highlights how digital finance can empower cultural innovation while sustaining economic impact.

More than two decades after AADC became a nationwide phenomenon, Rangga & Cinta has rekindled nostalgia while bringing a fresh twist through the musical format - a genre still rarely explored in Indonesian cinema. Directed by Riri Riza and written by Mira Lesmana with Titien Wattimena, the project also sees Nicholas Saputra, the original Rangga, stepping in as producer.

Indonesia’s creative industry never stops innovating, said Lesmana, who is also the founder of Miles Films. Collaboration across sectors is essential - it not only helps the creative industry grow but also enriches the audience experience and gives filmmakers more room to experiment, she added.

Vishal Tulsian, president director of Amar Bank, said the bank’s role as a digital financial institution aligns naturally with this partnership. Its support represents a strong synergy between digital financial services and the creative sector, which continues to play an increasingly important role in Indonesia’s economy, he added.

Launched in 2014, Tunaiku was one of Indonesia’s first app-based lending platforms. By leveraging big data and predictive analytics, it offers accessible financial services to those previously underserved by traditional banks. Amar Bank itself, listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange, made headlines in 2020 by launching the country’s first cloud-based digital banking app, powered by AI to encourage smarter saving habits.

Before Rangga & Cinta, Amar Bank had already marked its presence in the creative sector as the main partner of the 2025 Jogja-NETPAC Asian Film Festival (JAFF) Market. Now in its second year, JAFF Market is recognised as Indonesia’s first and largest platform dedicated to the national film industry.

The collaboration between Amar Bank and JAFF Market reflects a growing synergy between the financial technology sector and the country’s creative ecosystem. The partnership seeks to optimise the potential of Indonesian film works while fostering the growth of an inclusive, sustainable, and globally competitive film industry.
