Nisha Sundrum has left her role as WeTV's head of marketing to join on-demand documentary streaming service iwonder as global marketing director. WeTV is Tencent's international streaming platform and Sundrum (pictured) was appointed to lead marketing for the platform late last year. The move came months after WeTV acquired iflix’s content, technology and resources last June to expand streaming platform's service in Southeast Asia.

In her former role, Sundrum oversaw both iflix and WeTV platforms and reported to WeTV's country manager Aik Kuang Heng. Her team comprised of social media head, Joseph Pek and herself. She told A+M previously that she wants to help audiences understand that WeTV originals consist of a variety of shows, including Chinese, Malay and Indonesian shows as well as Korean dramas.

According to her LinkedIn, her previous responsibilities included introducing Malay audiences to WeTV's entertainment portal and app, as well as increase WeTV Malaysia's popularity as the top OTT platform in Malaysia. Sundrum was also responsible for retaining Chinese viewers who enjoy the platform. Besides WeTV and iflix, Sundrum also worked at Havas as entertainment branding specialist and Universal Music Group as new business consultant, her LinkedIn said. A+M has reached out to Sundrum and WeTV for comment.

Iwonder aims to be the home of factual entertainment, according to its website, and seeks to offer the best way to watch documentaries online. "Every year, thousands of amazing documentaries are made around the world. As iwonder, we have made it our mission to bring the best of these great untold stories to you," the company said. The platform is currently available in Southeast Asia, Hong Kong, Australia, New Zealand, and South Asia. Some of its programming is also available in the Middle East and North Africa through partnerships.

The streaming platform explained that it is more than a video streaming service. It not only curates some of the best documentaries and current affairs programmes but also combines trending news stories with relevant documentary suggestions. Some of the titles available include The Kleptocrats, Untouchable, Eating Animals, Basquiat: Rage to Riches, Honeyland, and For Sama. Iwonder is available on TV sets such as Apple TV, Android TV and Roku TV as well as computers, tablets and phones.
