TravMedia has unveiled a transformed look and dramatic new functionality to deliver a social network for business that will unite more than 25,000 registered journalists and 15,000 PR professionals globally. The new-look TravMedia, the travel industry’s global media network, introduces the first-ever messaging service exclusively for journalists and public relations professionals focused on travel. This complements the site's existing My Network functionality, which allows journalists and PR professionals to connect and track each other's business updates. The new messaging platform enables PR pros to pitch to journalists privately and collectively, allowing them to extend everything from invitations and press facilities to interview opportunities and product samples. In the same way, commissioning editors can send messages to freelancers, and freelancers can pitch to editors, completing the communications circle. TravMedia’s social network will solely connect registered members, eliminating the white noise of traditional social networks. The upgrade also unveils powerful search functionality that instantly delivers results covering people, companies, press releases and photos, so journalists can quickly and easily track content. The update features considerably advanced image uploading functionality, integration with Facebook and Twitter, and richer member profiles.TravMedia continues to distribute breaking travel news directly to journalists via high-impact News Alert emails, with supporting press centers and calendars of industry events on the website. Journalists issue requests for information to PR pros as 'Journalist Alerts', creating instant opportunities for coverage.TravMedia’s CEO & Founder Nick Wayland said: “After 14 years and expansion into 10 global regions, we are excited to deliver a transformed look and new technology that builds on our core service and extends our role in the industry.“TravMedia’s goal is to be the travel industry’s social media network, exclusively assisting members with their day-to-day workload. Our new messaging service and community noticeboard are designed to answer the communications needs of our entire community.“Traditional social networks were never created to support business communications. TravMedia introduces an entirely new way for journalists and PR professionals to build relationships and streamline their everyday interactions.”He added: “The site’s new look, richer search functionality, and closer integration to other existing networks will further cater to the needs of PR professionals and journalists across the global travel industry.”Source: press release
