TPG Telecom picks PR partner for Singapore market

Australian telco TPG Telecom has appointed GLOO PR as its public relations agency in Singapore. TPG Telecom entered the Singapore market in December 2016. GLOO will be tasked to manage the telco's communications strategy and outreach. Marketing has reached out to TPG for additional information on the appointment.

Richard Tan, general manager and acting CEO of TPG Telecom in Singapore said the telco is ramping up its efforts to roll out "meaningful and competitive" products and services for users in Singapore.

Meanwhile, Oo Gin Lee, managing director of GLOO PR said: “I was a tech journalist for 15 years before I moved over to PR. Working for a forward-looking and commercially-aggressive client in the telco space such as TPG is something that fits our experience and ethos, and we are very thankful for this opportunity from Tan and his team.” Previously, GLOO had worked with Circles.Life in promoting the telco’s "Switch" ad campaigns. The telco was adopting a "try-before-you-buy" model back in 2017. The PR agency has also worked with clients such as Razer, Playstation, Jabra, Nokia and others.

Recently, TPG sparked a social media spat accusing Singtel of denying subscribers in porting their numbers to TPG and "affecting customers' freedom of choice" through a Facebook post. This then saw Singtel put up a Facebook post to refute the allegations and clarify facts. The Facebook post by TPG, published on 28 February, said that Singtel Mobile "repeatedly" denied all valid porting requests to TPG, and has since raised subscribers' concerns to the relevant authorities, and thanked customers for supporting the telco.
