Touch ‘n Go and EZ-Link have jointly collaborated to jointly develop a dual currency Combi Card that will allow users to pay for urban mobility in both Malaysia and Singapore. Targeted for launch in the fourth quarter of this year, the card will host electronic wallets from both platforms. This collaboration between Malaysia’s multi-application e-purse and Singapore’s largest issuer of CEPAS-compliant cards is believed to be the first of its kind in Southeast Asia. The announcement follows the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between EZ-Link and Touch ‘n Go on 30 July 2017. Touch ‘n Go CEO Syahrunizam Tan Sri Samsudin said, "This synergy between Touch ‘n Go and EZ-Link to create a dual currency cross-border Combi Card will undoubtedly make daily transactions fuss-free for Malaysian and Singaporean consumers with faster, simpler and more secure payment options." He added that the partnership is one of the many ways Touch ‘n Go is innovating to bring the benefits of cashless payments to wider market segments. The Touch ‘n Go and EZ-Link cards have been an essential part of everyday touchpoint for Malaysian and Singaporean consumers across transit, mobility and retail. To date, EZ-Link has issued about 30 million EZ-Link cards in Singapore and Touch ‘n Go has more than 23 million active Touch ‘n Go cards in circulation in Malaysia. “EZ-Link is excited to partner with Touch ‘n Go to make it possible for our people to conveniently pay for electronic road pricing in Singapore, highway tolls in Malaysia and parking as a start, and shopping and dining in the future with just one card,” said Nicholas Lee, CEO of EZ-Link. Touch ‘n Go obtained the approval from Bank Negara Malaysia to operate and offer mobile e-wallet services to Malaysians in January 2018. The mobile e-wallet aims to enable Malaysians to experience a secure, convenient and seamless payment ecosystem by using Quick Response (QR) codes to perform transactions.
