TKO Plaza gets in the Christmas spirit with an eco-friendly holiday installation

With public places all over Hong Kong unveiling their best Christmas displays, TKO Plaza is joining the festivities with a sustainable twist.
Following the success of last year's environmentally friendly installation, "A Green Christmas: Fabrics and Wreath" goes beyond the usual yuletide decor to spread joy while advocating for a sustainable future. In partnership with AaaM Architects, recyclable material-focused enterprise Made in Sample, the local creatives at KaCaMa, and the material re-engineers of Worksheet Studio, TKO Plaza has unveiled a holiday installation made from recycled fabrics and upcycled seating installations made from tea leaves.
The colourful aerial display high above the piazza is made from 25 metres of recycled fabric, and will later be deconstructed into phone pouches. The fabrics are accompanied by a wastepaper chandelier that will also later be upcycled into 20 hand-carry bags.
KaCaMa and Worksheet Studio joined forces to turn recycled tea leaves and reclaimed wood into seating beneath the displays, giving visitors a chance to take a break and appreciate the wonders of the installation around them.
In addition to the displays, a marketplace of local handcrafts vendors will be on hand offering Christmas specialties that celebrate sustainable artistry and even offer opportunities for children and families to create their own DIY projects.
"A Green Christmas: Fabrics and Wreath" will be on full display through 3 January 3, 2021.
