Taylor’s University aimed to showcase the instrumental role that an educator plays in a student’s life in a new Teacher’s Day short film that features the RISE Educator of the Year 2023 recipient, Kumaresan Muniandy.

The film begins with Muniandy explaining that his role as an educator was by chance because he initially set out to study law.
He was tasked to be a mentor under professor Norani Salleh who invited him to an event. It was at this event that he was moved by an interaction with a student with Down Syndrome who optimistically asked if Muniandy was coming to their school to teach.
As the film brings audiences through Muniandy’s classes and features interviews with Salleh and the headmistress of the school, Taylor’s University celebrates the hard work and dedication of passionate teachers such as Muniandy.
“This Teacher's Day, let's remember the educators who made a difference in our lives,” said a Taylor’s University in a statement.
“Teachers like Cikgu Kumaresan, whose dedication empowers students with special needs not just in the classroom, but also by securing their futures,” the statement also said.
