Swire Properties celebrates Mother's Day with upcycled "flowers" giveaway

Shopping malls across Hong Kong are hosting events to celebrate Mother's Day, and Swire Properties is no exception as it plans to ride on the festival and encourage sustainable lifestyles by giving away upcycled flowers and launching a crafting workshop. The Swire Properties Community Ambassador Programme is set to give away 1,000 "upcycled" (i.e transformed from unwanted products) flowers used to create its “Love in Bloom” eco-art installation. Taking place on 11 May, a free DIY workshop, hosted by a professional floral designer, will teach participants how to handcraft a special bouquet to thank their mothers. The workshop aims to celebrate Mother’s Day and encourage sustainable lifestyles. The flowers, made from carpet samples and used uniforms, were made for the “Love in Bloom” eco-art installation from the proceeds of a  charity book sale which wrapped up this past weekend. “Love in Bloom” will be on display at Taikoo Place, Quarry Bay until 11 May. Created by sustainable fashion designer Angus Tsui, with material provided by Swire Hotels, the installation was built by 200 volunteers from Swire Properties, The Boys’ & Girls’ Clubs Association of Hong Kong (BGCA), and the Agency for Volunteer Service (AVS).
