Starbucks has clarified to fans in the US that the Taylor Swift drink promotion is a "fake offer" and is not valid at its stores. This came after the hashtag #MEBUCKS circulated online over the weekend, prompting fans to screenshot themselves listening to Taylor Swift's new song ME!. In a Twitter post, Starbucks responded to several netizens on the fake offer and to check its app or customer care line to confirm any promotion. The coffee giant also said it is working to determine how the fake promotion was created and circulated.Hi! This is a fake offer and not valid at Starbucks. To confirm any Starbucks promotion, you can check your Starbucks app, reach out to our customer care line, or to ask your Starbucks barista. We are working to determine how this fake post was created and circulated. Thank you. — Starbucks Coffee (@Starbucks) April 27, 2019  Despite Starbucks putting out a statement on the fake promotion, some netizens were seen posting images of the drink and claiming the offer worked in Starbucks stores. The new song ME! has garnered over 96 million views in a span of three days since its release and features Panic! at the Disco singer Brendon Urie.Thank you so much for letting me use my #MEBUCKS @Starbucks @starbuckshelp ✨?? pic.twitter.com/6YCyqqQLJq — ★ ??? ★ (@reputationbish) April 27, 2019  Omg so excited about this promotion! In March, Starbucks collaborated with singer Ariana Grande to launch its new drink, Cloud Macchiato. She became the ambassador of the drink, urging coffee enthusiasts to "try the soy version" as the cloud foam naturally contains egg whites. Several media outlets reported that Grande turned vegan in 2013.? @starbucks cloud #cloudmacchiato #starbucksambassador #trythesoyversion ? pic.twitter.com/y2LRAx33Sq — Ariana Grande (@ArianaGrande) March 5, 2019  Meanwhile in 2017, the coffee giant partnered with singer Lady Gaga through her Born This Way Foundation. Starbucks launched the “Cups of Kindness” line of drinks and donated 25 cents to the foundation for each beverage sold from its participating stores. In a press statement, Starbucks was said to have committed to a minimum US$250,000 contribution to Born This Way Foundation.
