SmarTone names new marketing and product director

SmarTone has appointed Judy Lam (pictured) as its new marketing and product director. She will report to SmarTone’s CEO Fiona Lau.

In this newly created role, Lam will oversee SmarTone's Hong Kong market, including driving the business of consumer mobile products including pre-paid and post-paid mobile plans, roaming, Birdie and other value-added services through integrated marketing, digital and eCommerce, and customer relationship development.

Prior to joining SmarTone, Lam spent more than 20 years holding various leadership roles at New World Development, K11 Concepts, Standard Chartered Bank, and Bain & Company. She brings with her a wealth of experience in retail, operations, customer relationship management, analytics and corporate strategy.

Commenting on the appointment, Lam said: "I am pleased to join SmarTone as marketing and product director. Customer-centricity is a core value of SmarTone and it is also the key attribute of my past success. I am committed to shaping and transforming our retail business going forward, as we continue to differentiate ourselves in the highly competitive telecommunications market by providing the best customer experience."

Back in April this year, SmarTone unveiled a new four-day “Multi-Day Roaming Data Pack” for customers to enjoy unlimited roaming data instantly upon arriving at 15 destinations in Asia Pacific without changing SIMs or setting up, to meet the needs of short-haul and spontaneous travellers during the Easter holiday.

Done in partnership with local network operators, "Multi-Day Roaming Data Pack" customers can enjoy full-speed roaming data for the first 1GB of usage per day and unlimited data thereafter. The service also supported in-flight roaming* on specific flights.
