Song Ji-ah, one of the stars of Netflix reality show Single's Inferno, has apologised for wearing counterfeit luxury goods on the show. "I am really sorry. We apologise once again for all the circumstances that have occurred due to the infringement of designers' creations and the ignorance of copyrights," she said in a handwritten note posted on Instagram. Song also apologised to all the brands that were impacted as a result, as well as to fans and subscribers.

Song (pictured) recently faced criticism for wearing counterfeit luxury goods. According to South Korean English-language newspaper, The Korea Times, the issue first came to light when a YouTube video claimed that Song had been donning fake goods of luxury brands such as Chanel, Dior, and Versace.

The video highlighted that the crewneck short-sleeved sweater with Chanel's logo on it, as well as the bikini with Versace's iconic design pattern which Song wore during the show were replicas, The Korea Times said. The video added that the tube top with Dior's oblique pattern worn by Song during the show was also counterfeit, carrying a fake logo of the brand. The authenticity of Song's other clothing and accessories that she wore during the show was also questioned by the video.

This led to netizens pointing out that Song had misled consumers by sharing haul videos and pretending that her counterfeit items were authentic luxury brand products purchased from official brand stores. A check by MARKETING-INTERACTIVE found that the haul videos have since been removed from her YouTube channel. Her YouTube channel was launched in 2019 and features vlogs as well as makeup tutorials. Song currently has 3.4 million followers on Instagram and 1.9 million YouTube subscribers.

In her Instagram post, Song said as someone who dreams of launching a brand, she will seriously reflect on the controversy and ensure it does not happen again in future. "I will live with more responsibility in the future," she said.

Song was recently featured on Single's Inferno alongside 11 other singles. The 12 singles are placed on a deserted island as they embark on a journey to find love and escape the island for a date night in a hotel suite. Single's Inferno is ranked second in the top 10 list of shows watched in Singapore today at the time of publication.
