Ranking: Top 10 retail brands in Hong Kong unveiled

Don Don Donki and PARKnSHOP have topped the chart as Hong Kong's best general retail brands, while DFI Retail Group's Wellcome and Mannings have shown great improvement in the same category. 

The rankings tracked data from 1 September 2020 to 31 August 2021, and are based on the Index score from YouGov BrandIndex, which constantly measures overall brand health. The score takes into account consumers’ perception of a brand’s overall quality, value, impression, reputation, satisfaction, and whether consumers would recommend the brand to others.

In Hong Kong, DON DON DONKI leads the general retail category this year with a score of 20.1. Coming in close is PARKnSHOP which grabbed the second place with a score of 19.5. The third and fourth position are tied by Mannings and Muji, both with the score of 18.8. IKEA is ranked fifth with the score of 18.4.
general retail brand jpgThe general retail category also shows the best movers this year. Wellcome topped the most improved general retail brand list in Hong Kong this year, with a rise of +2.4 points from 15.6 in 2020 to 17.9 in 2021.

Mannings came in close taking the second spot with +2.3 points, from 16.5 in 2020 to 18.8 in 2021. The third and fourth places were taken by IKEA and AEON, with the rise of +2.0 (from 16.4 in 2020 to 18.4 in 2021) and +1.7 points (from 16.2 in 2020 to 17.9 in 2021) respectively. Taking the number five spot is Japan Home Store, with an increase of +1.0 points from 10.8 last year to 11.8 this year.

best moversYouGov has also studied luxury fashion brands in Hong Kong. Rolex leads the luxury fashion list this year with a score of 27.5. CHANEL came in second with a score of 18.1. In third and fourth position were LOUIS VUITTON and Cartier respectively scoring 16.3 and 15.1. Rounding out the top five Hermès scored 14.8.   luxury hk brandWhen it comes to mainstream and athletic fashion. Retail brand UNIQLO tops the mainstream and athletic fashion list this year in Hong Kong with a score of 31.1, followed by Nike (28.2) and adidas (24.7). Marks & Spencer scores 15.3 to gain the fourth place and Timberland gets the fifth place with the score of 15.2.
