Prudential MY's customer and marketing chief Eric Wong helms new role

Prudential Assurance Malaysia has promoted Eric Wong to chief marketing and partnerships distribution officer. He was most recently chief customer and marketing officer for the insurer and joined in 2017. With more than 10 years of experience under his belt, Wong (pictured) is an experienced chief marketing officer with a history of working across industries such as FMCG, banking, and insurance, said his LinkedIn. 

Prudential has declined to comment on A+M's queries regarding his role.

Before Prudential, he was with Citi for six years, last helming the role of customer franchise director where he was responsible for marketing, digital banking, customer experience, business training, and decision management, according to his LinkedIn. He first joined Citi in March 2011 as its marketing director. Meanwhile, he has also worked at British American Tobacco as its regional brand group manager. According to his LinkedIn, he was in this position for more than 12 years. He has also worked in British consumer goods company, Unilever as its distribution manager. 

Separately, on the branding front, the insurer has been working with K-pop group, SuperM, to ramp up its brand awareness and mindshare among the younger generation in Asia. The partnership began last year and came as both parties shared a common goal of promoting the importance of staying fit and healthy. A few months after the official launch of the partnership, Prudential unveiled a social media-focused campaign titled "We DO" to bring consumers together through dance.

Meanwhile, in August last year, Prudential and SuperM hosted a virtual concert and fan meet for winners of the "We DO" campaign and dance challenges. The event was also exclusive to users of Pulse by Prudential, the company's all-in-one health and wellness app.
