PHD Indonesia has promoted head of strategy, Shailesh Waingankar (pictured), to GM. This comes as former GM Nadia Zain left the agency to join social media giant Facebook, according to a LinkedIn post by Rajat Basra, Omnicom Media Group Indonesia's CEO (president director).

As head of strategy, Waingankar was the media-led planning and strategy lead for OMG Indonesia agency brands - OMD and PHD. He also led the people-based precision marketing Omni development in Indonesia. He first joined PHD Indonesia in 2017 as associate general manager and further held strategy roles within the network.

Prior to his stint with OMG, Waingankar was with MediaCom for over a year as a comms planning strategy lead. He oversaw the Procter & Gamble account in Indonesia that was held by the agency at that time. Waingankar also worked with Starcom for more than a year as media director. During that period, he managed global brands such as P&G, Samsung, Nestle, Coca Cola, Cargills, Akzonobel's Dulux and KFC. Marketing Interactive has reached out to PHD and Waingankar for comment.

Separately, PHD won the Indosat Ooredoo multi-agency pitch last June in Indonesia. The decision saw the OMG entity take on the full media brief for Indonesia’s second largest telco, with upwards of 53.3 million subscribers. The appointment spans two years with the option to renew for an additional year before the next review.

The agency also bagged LG Electronics' global media account towards the end of 2o19. With the appointment the agency will manage the media planning and buying duties for the full portfolio of LG products in over 50 international markets. Effective from January 2020, PHD will be tasked with supporting LG’s global growth through media, strategy, technology and data expertise. The assignment will see a global team of strategy leads based in key markets, in addition to a central team managing the business from a global hub in Seoul.
