PHD Hong Kong has appointed Lawrence Lo (pictured left) as the new managing partner and Namrata Chakrabarty (pictured right) as data director for the HSBC APAC account.

Lo’s advertising, marketing, and digital abilities expand across both agency and client-side within Asia Pacific, serving brands in the banking and finance sector such as TransUnion, Citibank and BlackRock. In his most recent banking and finance-related position at TransUnion, as director of consumer interactive, Lo was responsible for the acquisition, product, business development, and consumer operations. He successfully built, led, and advanced a direct-to-consumer business model. Lo brings over 20 years of experience to his new role at PHD, overseeing the APAC HSBC team's business operations and client relations.

To further invest in the team's strength and to help support data projections for HSBC, PHD has also appointed Namrata Chakrabarty as data director. Chakrabarty joins PHD from IBM Hong Kong, where she was responsible for building cloud-native customer data platforms for clients. Prior to Hong Kong, Chakrabarty has led projects in the area of data science and machine learning in UK, Denmark and India with diverse set of clients. In her new position, Chakrabarty will drive digital acquisition, data, and analytics across APAC for HSBC, creating value from data across various channels to maximize business performance.

"I am delighted to be returning to Hong Kong to join PHD, the fastest-growing Media Agency in the market. The marketing world continues to change at an unprecedented rate, presenting new challenges for us all to navigate. PHD have proven themselves to be ahead of their time with leading innovation and future-proofed solutions for their clients, and I am excited to onboard a team with a vision for tomorrow,” said Lo.

"Working for such an insightful media agency that recognizes the value of data is exciting for me. I look forward to utilizing my skillset of data to drive an improved customer experience for HSBC,” said Chakrabarty.

"We are thrilled to welcome both Lawrence and Namrata to the team. Both of whom have proven success in driving long-term customer results. Lawrence is a strategic people leader with a high business acumen, and Namrata possesses rich data analysis expertise. In this ever-changing media world, we continue to invest ahead to drive fast growth for our clients. We are confident in both their abilities to elevate our services and drive increased business performance for HSBC,” added Clement Chung, PHD CEO.

Earlier this year in February, PHD HK worked with Towngas and integrated characters from the TV drama series Come Home Love: Lo and Behold into the energy supplier's advertisements. At the same time, it was appointed by property specialist Raeon International as its strategic brand partner to handle brand planning and digital responsibilities.

On a global scale, PHD has managed to bag several partnerships in Asia within this year, namely Shanghai Jahwa, Audi and Subway.
