PHD China announces three new hires after winning Volkswagen

PHD China announced three new hires to its China strategy unit: group strategy director, Jonah Brown and strategy directors, Linda Hou and Renee Zhang.

Each hire will focus on boosting PHD’s communications planning and business intelligence expertise following Volkswagen Group’s selection of PHD to handle its media planning and buying worldwide.

The three will also work with the China strategy unit on PHD’s clients including Unilever and Amore Pacific.

Most recently, Brown served as head of automotive strategy at Mindshare China, advising brands including Jaguar Land Rover. He also led work for Volkswagen Group and Nestle, among other Fortune 100 firms, as group account director at Millward Brown China.

Prior to joining PHD China, Hou was a strategy lead at Publicis. She has more than a decade of experience in research and strategy, and has served brands including Cadillac, Buick, Nestle, Cartier and more.

Zhang served for eight years at various agencies, including Ogilvy & Mather, BBDO and McCann. Her previous role was planning director at McCann, where she managed key clients including MasterCard, Maybelline and Princess Cruises and adds key skills in improving client-consumer engagement.

Aaron Wild, CEO of PHD China said, “As we near the end of PHD China’s best year ever, these new appointments to our China strategy unit mean our clients will have true brand stewards on their communications and media planning teams – people who understand brand growth, measurement, and how best to connect with the hearts and minds of the Chinese consumer.”
