MR D.I.Y. Indonesia has launched a new STEM-focused campaign aimed at expanding access to interactive, skills-based learning among students, marking a strategic extension of its long-term community and education agenda.
Unveiled under its “MR D.I.Y. Untuk Indonesia” platform, the campaign titled “Menginspirasi generasi inovator” introduces hands-on learning experiences designed to foster curiosity, creativity, and problem-solving skills from an early age.
Positioned as the first STEM initiative of its kind by a home improvement retailer in Indonesia, the programme reflects a growing shift among brands to play a more active role in education – particularly in bridging gaps in access and learning quality across regions.

“MR D.I.Y. Indonesia believes that access should be the foundation – whether it is access to everyday household essentials or access to relevant learning. Through ‘Menginspirasi generasi inovator’, we aim to deliver STEM learning experiences that are more accessible and enjoyable for more children across Indonesia. This is part of our commitment to continue growing alongside Indonesian families by opening up wider access for future generations to learn, experiment, and develop,” said Edwin Cheah, president director of MR D.I.Y. Indonesia.
The initiative debuted on 10 April 2026 in Waingapu, East Sumba – an area categorised among Indonesia’s priority development regions – engaging 341 students from 10 schools. The programme introduced practical learning formats, from creative project assembly to problem-solving simulations, enabling students to engage directly with STEM concepts in a contextualised way.
East Sumba represents a broader push to strengthen education ecosystems in Eastern Indonesia, where access to applied learning remains uneven. By anchoring the campaign in such regions, MR D.I.Y. aligns its community investment with national development priorities, particularly in education equity.
The programme was implemented with support from Yayasan SUKA Indonesia to ensure local relevance and impact.
“We see that interactive and practice-based learning approaches are becoming increasingly important to complement classroom education. Initiatives like ‘Menginspirasi generasi inovator’ from MR D.I.Y. Indonesia provide a different experience for students so that they not only understand theory, but also try and explore directly. This can help increase learning interest while strengthening skills relevant for the future,” said Yonathan Hani, deputy regent of East Sumba.
Following its pilot in East Sumba, the campaign has expanded to Jakarta, targeting 2,000 students across 10 schools. The Jakarta leg is supported by Indonesia Mengajar, signalling a broader push to scale the initiative nationally while maintaining local relevance.
