MP & Silva APAC appoints new director of brand partnerships

MP & Silva has appointed Alex Wee as director, brand partnerships (Asia Pacific). Wee will be responsible for delivering new commercial partnerships and sponsorship opportunities, as well as building relationships with brands and clients across the region.

He will oversee the development and exploitation of non-media content commercial rights, including the delivery of sponsorship-led revenue. He will be based in MP & Silva’s Asia Pacific office in Singapore and will report directly to Wu Swee Sin, managing director (Asia Pacific).

Wee has more than 15 years of sales and business development experience in leading media organisations, notably The Financial Times (FT) and Singapore Press Holdings (SPH). He joins MP & Silva from his role as FT’s regional director of sponsorships and partnerships (Asia) driving revenue and sponsorship sales, developing new distribution and digital platforms, and expanding client partnerships across the region to new markets. In addition to his role at FT, Wee’s responsibilities included growing circulation revenue targets as circulation director (S.E. Asia – Digital & Print).

Wee has also held leadership roles at MillionaireAsia as director of key accounts and special projects, and at Asia City Publishing as I-S Magazine’s advertising director, namely to introduce new categories and developing creative forms of revenue generators. At SPH, Wee helped introduced non-traditional advertisers to female magazines Female and ‘Nuyou’ as account manager.

Wu said “We welcome Alex’s experience, especially with his proven skills set and relationships, to continue our success across the region. We are delighted to have someone of his expertise to bolster our growing brand partnership business, including his in-depth understanding of the Asian region. We look forward to leveraging on his well-established relationships to establish more long-term partnerships, and further strengthen our sponsorship business.”
