The viral internet meme character "Chill Guy”, created by American artist Phillip Bankss, has debuted its first global pop-up store at Festival Walk.
Also known as “Chill Guy. Chill Walk”, the pop-up store is running from 11 April until 5 May. Serving as the brand’s first official event worldwide, it aims to provide participants with a relaxed atmosphere and immerse them in laid-back vibes.
Greeting fans at the entrance is a 1.5-meter Chill Guy installation, followed by a three-meter mega-size Chill Guy right at the atrium. Next to the mega Chill Guy installation stands a gigantic minibus sign that features the word “chill” (淡定) in the signature red-and-white style, describing the Chill Guy standing right in front.

On the opposite side of the atrium, there is a giant wall displaying a famous typhoon photo that depicts the strong ethic of Hongkongers. The back side of Chill Guy is shown, featuring a serene dialogue "Going to work” (返工), illustrating his calmness in the aftermath of the chaos caused by the typhoon.

Adjacent to this display, there is a wall of memes inspired by local cultural artifacts among Hongkongers, including expressions such as “講呢啲”. Additionally, the wall features Chill Guy's calm response to unexpected situations such as traffic jams and conflicts with an upset girlfriend. Participants can select the one that best resonates with them.

The pop-up store also features over 100 officially authorised merchandises, including figures, tees, baseball caps, disposable cameras, poker cards, travel accessories, lifestyle items, and other collectibles that target Gen Z. There are also exclusive Chill Guy gacha machines for stamps that bear Chill Guy’s mottos: the chilled work series and the Gen Z series.

Meme lovers who want their own memes can also visit the DITTO.SNAP selfie studio located on level LG2 of Festival Walk, now featuring the Chill Guy theme.
Additionally, lifestyle accessory brand CASETiFY recently collaborated with Chill Guy to launch a series of chic items including smartphone cases, earphone cases, tablet cases, laptop cases, chargers, and two-in-one adaptors. CASETiFY has also introduced a Festival Walk-exclusive Chill Guy phone case, along with other shopping offers. From 11 April until 5 May, customers who purchase the Chill Guy series at CASETiFY STUDiO's Festival Walk store will receive a 20% off at the pop-up store, upon presentation of a valid receipt.

Created by American digital artist Phillip Banks, “Chill Guy” was launched on 4 October 2023. Clad in his iconic grey sweater, blue jeans, and red sneakers, Chill Guy gives off a "chill" attitude with a smirk on his face and hands in his pockets. His calmness resonates with Gen Z, and his videos have garnered over 20 million views on social media, making him a global sensation.
