Mediacorp brings ‘Made in Singapore’ content to new audiences across Asia

Singaporean media conglomerate Mediacorp has partnered with pan-regional OTT video service Viu to offer Viu-ers access to programmes from Mediacorp. The content will be made available to Viu-ers throughout Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines and Hong Kong. Content will include English, Bahasa Melayu, Traditional Chinese and Thai subtitles on an as-available basis.

Marketing has reached out to Mediacorp for additional information.

Doreen Neo, chief content officer, Mediacorp, said the collaboration with Viu will extend the reach and recognition of Mediacorp’s content to a wider regional audience, and attests to the universal appeal and storytelling strength of Mediacorp productions.

Meanwhile, Virginia Lim, chief content officer, Viu, said the company is committed to continually enriching the content experience on its platform, and in recent years brought locally produced shows from terrestrial broadcasters to its regional digital audience. “This collaboration with Mediacorp is another example of Viu being the ideal digital platform in the region to showcase the great content produced in Singapore,” she added.

This comes on the back of Mediacorp's recent collaboration with Malaysian streaming platform dimsum entertainment to bring a selection of Thai drama series to its digital video service meWATCH. This partnership then adds to meWATCH’s existing collaborations with HBO GO, HOOQ, tvN Movies, Simply South and beIN Sports.

Dimsum entertainment is no stranger to the Singapore market. In April 2018, it made its debut into Singapore through a partnership with StarHub. The entertainment company then officially launched its services in later in November, as part of its regional expansion. On its Singapore platform, dimsum was said to offer a range of Asian dramas, variety shows, movies, animations and documentaries from countries such as Singapore, China, Japan, Thailand, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Korea.
