Mebiso launches AI-powered image protection tool to combat creative copycats

Intellectual property platform Mebiso has introduced a new AI-powered image protection feature designed to help businesses and creative professionals safeguard their visual assets amid the rapid rise of AI-generated content.
The company unveiled Mebiso Image Protection during the "AIRONI: AI VS Kreator Seni" event at Universitas Gadjah Mada's Innovation and Creativity Arena in Yogyakarta. The launch comes as concerns grow over the ease with which AI tools can generate logos, illustrations and other visual works that closely resemble existing creations.
Mebiso Image Protection enables users to automatically detect similarities between logos and images in real time. The system also sends notifications via WhatsApp when potential infringements are identified, allowing businesses and creators to respond more quickly.

According to Mebiso CEO Hesti Rosa, the feature was developed to address mounting challenges facing businesses and creative industries as AI-generated content becomes increasingly accessible.
"This presents a challenge for businesses and creators. Mebiso Image Protection is here to provide peace of mind while ensuring that their intellectual property rights are protected efficiently and transparently," said Rosa, as quoted by Kompas.
She added that the company, which has supported more than 54,000 MSMEs across Indonesia, recognises the growing importance of protecting both brands and creative works.
"Mebiso Image Protection reflects our commitment to helping businesses preserve the originality and unique value of their work," she said.
The launch event brought together legal and creative industry stakeholders, including intellectual property experts, academics and representatives from Indonesia's design community. Discussions highlighted how brand identity and originality have become increasingly valuable business assets, while infringements involving logos, artwork and designs can lead to financial losses and reputational damage.
Attendees were also shown demonstrations of the platform's AI-powered image similarity analysis and trademark opposition capabilities.
The image protection launch follows Mebiso's broader push into digital trademark protection through the introduction of the Mebiso App, a mobile platform designed to help businesses manage trademark searches, monitoring and protection from a single dashboard.
The company launched the application alongside its third anniversary, positioning it as a response to common concerns among entrepreneurs over trademark rejection and brand plagiarism.
Indonesia's trademark landscape continues to expand rapidly. Data from the directorate general of intellectual property shows that between 120,000 and 140,000 trademark applications are submitted annually, making Indonesia one of the fastest-growing trademark markets in ASEAN.
At the same time, many businesses remain vulnerable. Mebiso notes that more than 66 million MSMEs in Indonesia still face challenges in protecting their brands, while approximately 75% of trademark applications are rejected because of similarities with previously registered marks.
To address these issues, the Mebiso App includes a Trademark Analyser feature that uses AI to assess potential trademark similarities in real time. It also offers a 24-hour monitoring service that alerts users when potentially similar trademark applications are filed.
Additional features include real-time status tracking for multiple trademarks and encrypted document storage designed to safeguard user data.
Looking ahead, the company believes brand protection should become a standard part of business development rather than an afterthought.
"Through the Mebiso App, we want to ensure that every business owner has easier access to protecting their brand from the very beginning. We believe that brand protection is no longer optional, but an essential requirement that allows entrepreneurs to run their businesses with greater peace of mind and focus on growth," Rosa said.
