Malaysia Airports is celebrating the vibrant and timeless beauty of local textiles this Raya with its new "Jalinan Aidilfitri: pesona kraf tekstil" campaign.

The collaborative campaign with Kraftangan Malaysia celebrates textiles such as batik, songket and tenun and will run in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations.

At KLIA Terminal 1, visitors will be greeted by the captivating centerpiece attraction, Rumah Kampung Limas. Standing proudly at 24 feet tall within the departure hall at level 5, the centerpiece is meticulously built and crafted by the renowned master builder, Masadan bin Mohsin.

Visitors who step inside this traditional setting will be enveloped in the beauty of Malaysian textiles adorning every corner, from tablecloths to cushion covers and other textile based decorative pieces, offering an immersion into Malaysia's vibrant cultural tapestry.

Beneath the house lies a spacious batik canting station, inviting visitors to engage in the art of colouring batik pieces. Visitors can also immerse themselves in the tranquil kampung ambiance surrounding Rumah Kampung Limas, with a yard featuring a garden pergola equipped with traditional songket weaving tools.

Here, visitors can witness the intricate process of songket production and learn more about its weaving techniques too. Each designated area features a QR code for visitors to scan with their smartphones to experience the sight of Wau batik soaring against an airport backdrop.

Additionally, visitors can enjoy the spirit of Hari Raya in a special Seloka Bazaar Raya at KLIA Terminal 1 and KLIA Terminal 2. The bazaar features an array of vendors offering locally-made fashion, art, and crafts inspired by textiles.

“We hope that both local and international travellers will join us in celebrating the heritage of Malaysia through textiles at our airports during this Hari Raya season. The production of these textiles involves intricate craftsmanship passed down through generations. Skilled artisans meticulously created these fabrics using traditional techniques," said Hani Ezra Hussin, senior general manager, commercial services for Malaysia Airports.

"Malaysia Airports is proud to be carrying and showcasing Malaysia’s rich heritage of craftsmanship. As part of our commercial reset strategy, we are focused on ensuring more joyful experiences for our visitors, and we hope they enjoy such beautiful artwork in KLIA."

The campaign will run until 15 May 2024 and span across all international airports in Malaysia. Various Hari Raya activities and performances curated by Kraftangan Malaysia will also delight visitors throughout the campaign period.

In addition, travellers and shoppers can enjoy Hari Raya shopping promotions abound throughout the campaign period with exclusive offers available at various airports.

Some offers include receiving a RM30 shopping voucher when spending RM800 at KLIA Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, getting a free exclusive batik travel neck pillow by spending RM1,000 and enjoying 15% cashback when travellers dine at participating outlets.

Exclusive to Penang International Airport, Langkawi International Airport, Kuching International Airport, and Kota Kinabalu International Airport is the offer of receiving a RM20 shopping voucher when spending RM500, as well as the offer of receiving exclusive Raya packets when shoppers spend RM150.

Malaysian Airports is not the only Malaysian brand to release a campaign celebrating Hari Raya through textiles.

Most recently, lifestyle brand dUCk introduced latest Raya collection, "The Nisa dUCk". The collection is inspired by the spirit of Nisa, which means 'woman' in Arabic, and is a tribute to the multifaceted beauty and empowerment of women around the world.

"The Nisa dUCk" collection features scarves, ready-to-wear and bags. Its designs are inspired by the borders of The Quran and the scarves are named after female icons in Islam.
