Luxury lifestyle publication Lifestyle Asia has expanded its horizons with its seventh publication, Lifestyle Asia Malaysia. Lifestyle Asia Malaysia will be curated and presented entirely in Bahasa.

Lifestyle Asia Malaysia will cover topics ranging from style, beauty, dining and culture. It seeks to synergise culture with design and an approach that resonates with the young, aspirational and ambitious demographic, it said.

The publication will complement the existing English edition, Lifestyle Asia Kuala Lumpur.

According to a statement by the publication, the launch in Malay signifies the brand's commitment to engage diverse audiences and localise content for readers.

It is also a key component of the broader strategy to create content that resonates with the Bahasa Melayu-speaking community.

With over 58% of the Malaysian population speaking Bahasa Melayu, Lifestyle Asia Malaysia will ensure accessibility and reinforce Lifestyle Asia's commitment of providing relevant and compelling content for a diverse readership, the statement added.

Lifestyle Asia Malaysia follows the success of the Thai-language edition of Lifestyle Asia which launched in 2023. Currently, Lifestyle Asia has editions across five countries in Asia: Hong Kong, India, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand.

“Launching Lifestyle Asia Malaysia marks an exciting start to the Lifestyle Asia family this year. We have so much in store and exciting projects in the pipeline for the brand; so, stay tuned,” said Martin Teo, editor-in-chief of Lifestyle Asia Malaysia and Lifestyle Asia Kuala Lumpur.

"At Lifestyle Asia Malaysia, our mission is not only about advancing our core values but staying real and connected. We’re proud to be the first digital publication engaging with the Bahasa Melayu-speaking community through its aspirational content," said Natasha Kraal, publisher of BurdaLuxury Kuala Lumpur.

"The aim of this publication is to tell stories that matter, fostering a stronger connection with our readers, whilst preserving the richness of the Malaysian heritage and spotlighting the changemakers who are making a positive change within the community. As unique storytellers, we remain committed to ensuring a vibrant and engaging platform,” added Kraal.

Lifestyle Asia Malaysia was launched on 16 May at Bamboo Hills Kuala Lumpur. The event's theme "Batique" presented a modern interpretation of batik and celebrated Malaysia's rich cultural heritage where guests engaged in batik painting.

The launch also unveiled two digital covers featuring two Malaysian musical groups DOLLA and MASDO. It was supported by Larrie, SugarBomb, Superdry and brand partners Schwarzkopf Professional and Makeover Beauty.

In addition to celebrating the launch of Lifestyle Asia Malaysia, the event provided a platform to introduce its editor for Lifestyle Asia Malaysia Ardi Idewani who joined in December 2023.

Finally, Lifestyle Asia Malaysia aims to expand on Lifestyle Asia Kuala Lumpur's editorial campaigns and continue to channel brand opportunities. The publication's editorial lineup promises an array of editions including The Launch Edition, The Women's Edition, The Men's Edition, The Entrepreneur Edition and The Royal Edition.

Lifestyle Asia Malaysia is just one of the few magazines launches to take place in the market. Last year, Heart Group Media launched GRAZIA in Singapore and Malaysia.

GRAZIA Singapore and GRAZIA Malaysia launched in March 2023 with an English-language print issue, a website and a presence on all relevant social media platforms. Pakkee Tan and Ian Loh now lead the Singapore and Malaysia editorial operations respectively as editor-in-chief.

According to Heart Media, Singapore and Malaysia were chosen as both markets are vibrant fashion hubs within Southeast Asia, boasting large economies and a growing luxury and fashion-savvy clientele.
