
Kompas TV adds Indonesian edition of BBC News tech programme Click

Kompas TV, BBC’s partner channel, will be premiering Indonesian edition of flagship BBC News technology TV programme, Click on 7 July. Produced by BBC News Indonesia, the weekly programme will be broadcast at 11.30 Western Indonesian Time.This is the first time Click has been made available to Indonesian-speaking viewers. It will also be aired on the BBC News Indonesia YouTube channel and streamed live on Indonesian over-the-top platforms such as iflix and HOOQ.The Indonesian edition of Click will look at the digital developments that improve lives around the world, while placing a special focus on Indonesian talent and innovation. The 24-minute programme brings the latest news on apps, gadgets and games.Kompas TV news director Rosianna Silalahi said: “We hope that this collaboration will be mutually beneficial, helping BBC News Indonesia and Kompas TV complement each other.”Meanwhile, BBC News Indonesia editor Olivia Rosalia said she believes that Click content will be relevant and useful to the audience. “ Thanks to our rebroadcasting collaboration with Kompas TV, this programme further expands and diversifies the BBC News offer, and will help us tap into new audiences in Indonesia and beyond,” she added.Recently, in July, BBC World News launched an interactive episode on Click, which allows viewers to choose from hundreds of thousands of alternative versions. Viewers can personalise their experience by making decisions while they are watching and tailor content according to viewers’ watching habits. Using the in-episode feature, viewers can choose the stories they want hear about, and in how much detail.It was made possible through the content creation tool, StoryFormer developed by the BBC’s Research and Development department. StoryFormer allows production teams to break stories down into constituent parts, such as audio, individual frames of video or captions, which can be personalised and shaped by the preferences of the person watching.Click has been on air for nearly 20 years, and previously experimented with other production techniques, including 360 video, virtual reality and making shows entirely on mobile phones. BBC News Indonesia is part of BBC World Service, which delivers news content around the world in English and 41 other language services, on radio, TV and digital.
