Jessica Soho retires as GMA's VP for news programs

Veteran journalist Jessica Soho has announced her retirement as first vice president for news programs at GMA Network to focus on key news shows.

Leaving her executive duties, Soho (pictured) will continue to host her weekly primetime news magazine program Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho (KMJS) on GMA and Brigada on GMA News TV as well as anchor her nightly news program State of the Nation (SONA), also on GMA News TV.

Soho climbed the ranks at GMA starting as a news reporter in 1988. After becoming production news manager in 2000, she was quickly promoted to bigger roles as acting news director in 2002, VP for news in 2004 and VP for news programs in 2008. Her last promotion as first VP of news programs was awarded last year.

“I am a Kapuso through the core of my being. I have worked with only one (1) network throughout my entire career because I truly believe in the network’s independence and professionalism.”

“Although I am retired from my position, I will always be a proud member of GMA News and Public Affairs,“ she adds.

Details on who will be Soho's successor has yet to be announced.
