Conrad Singapore Orchard has appointed Ferne Yap as director of marketing communications, marking a return to the hotel brand for the hospitality marketing veteran.

Yap announced the move on LinkedIn, describing the appointment as a new chapter that feels “a little like coming home”. She said the role brings her back to hospitality, branding and storytelling, areas she has worked across throughout her career.

The appointment marks Yap’s return to Conrad after previously serving as director of marketing communications at Conrad Hotels & Resorts in Singapore from 2015 to 2018. In that role, she oversaw the hotel’s marketing communications strategy, including public relations, advertising, social media, digital marketing and partnerships, according to her LinkedIn.

Most recently, Yap was regional director of marketing at Amara Hotels & Resorts, a role she held from August 2024 to September 2026. She oversaw marketing communications across Amara’s hospitality, commercial and residential businesses, including Amara Singapore, Amara Sanctuary Sentosa, Amara Bangkok, Thanying Restaurant and 100 AM Mall.

During her time at Amara, Yap led the marketing and communications efforts surrounding the reopening of Amara Singapore following its refurbishment, as well as the launch of its “Local legends” culinary programme. She also worked on brand development and communications initiatives across the group’s portfolio.

Prior to Amara, Yap spent nearly two years as director of marketing communications at Far East Hospitality, where she led marketing communications for The Barracks Hotel Sentosa, Oasia Resort Sentosa, The Outpost Hotel Sentosa and Village Hotel Sentosa.

Her wider hospitality career includes roles at Oakwood, Pan Pacific Hotels Group, Marina Bay Sands and Gardens by the Bay. At Pan Pacific, she served as director of brand marketing, where she worked on the group’s global brand portfolio, campaigns, partnerships and brand refresh initiatives.

Yap began her career in advertising, spending more than a decade across McCann Erickson, Timmermann & Tan Advertising and Morpheus Creative Communications before moving into brand and hospitality marketing.

Yap’s return to Conrad also comes as Hilton continues to build its brand presence across the region. In 2025, Hilton appointed Tal Shefer as senior vice president of brand management for Asia Pacific, with a remit spanning brand strategy and growth across its portfolio, including its luxury and lifestyle segment. The move came as Hilton planned to expand its luxury and lifestyle portfolio from more than 160 trading properties to over 250 in the coming years.
