“DL” is proud to be the distinguished recipient of the “Media Campaign of the Year Award” at MARKETING-INTERACTIVE's “Spark Awards” for two consecutive years. The cross-media creative platform will continue its endeavors to bridge the gap between the online and offline worlds. Through a dynamic fusion of text, video, and audio, “DL” explores limitless possibilities while actively listening to and engaging with modern perspectives.

Going beyond conventional media, “DL” emerges as a shining example of creative media excellence, pushing boundaries and setting new standards.

“DL” was founded amidst the challenges of the pandemic. Through a collaboration with DBS Bank and a local social enterprise called Sightfeeling, “DL” curated the remarkable Moment of Purpose photography exhibition to showcase the profound beauty of life captured through the lenses of visually impaired photographers, serving as a powerful testament to their resilience and positive influence in the post-pandemic recovery.

The exhibition featured captivating portraits of various artists, including local pop idols Fiona Sit, Janice Vidal, Jude Tsang, and Jill Vidal, illustrating the collaborative power of mutual inspiration and reaffirming the belief that no one is excluded from the richness of life.

In a commendable display of inclusivity, the exhibition incorporated audio descriptions and braille, ensuring that it was accessible and enjoyable for all visitors, thus emphasising the core principles of equality and diversity.

Bridging local cultural identity and international vision

In the aftermath of the pandemic, a wave of emigration swept across the city. “DL”, attuned to the new norm and responded with positive actions. Sponsored by the Hong Kong Tourism Board, “DL” embarked on a collaborative endeavour with 498 secondary schools and tertiary institutions, as well as 22 artists and singers, including Panther Chan, Ekin Cheng, The Grasshopper, Catherine Wong, Jason Chan, Gigi Cheung, art and image director Man Lim-chung and film director Cheang Pou-soi.

Together, they organised the [City] Pal-ette short film competition and photography exhibition at Central Market. This initiative aimed to showcase the vibrancy of Hong Kong, encompassing its colorful history, modern allure, and the multitude of dimensions waiting to be explored.

Subsequently, “DL” seamlessly integrated the essence of [City] Pal-ette into Jacky Cheung's latest music video, Another Ten Years. Under the invitation of director Andrew Lau and Jacky Cheung, the “DL” team managed to take charge of the entire creative process, from conceptualisation and filming to post-production.

The music video showcased a plethora of captivating urban daily life scenes drawn from the vibrant [City] Pal-ette. These scenes, constantly shifting in shape and quantity, symbolised life as a perpetually evolving kaleidoscope, being vibrant, colorful, and ceaselessly changing.

In the realm of visual creation, “DL” also forged a successful partnership with SAMSUNG for two consecutive years, showcasing breathtaking 3D animations on the expansive outdoor LED screen at Central's Entertainment Building.

The first collaboration resulted in the mesmerising "Naked Eye 3D" immersive animation titled Impossible Gifting Factory. This enchanting creation served as a delightful Christmas gift to Hong Kong, symbolising hope and joy during the reopening of borders.

Building on this success, “DL” embarked on the “Create Your Ideal Nature” initiative, which involved transforming individual sketches of marine life into captivating 3D animations. This initiative culminated in a city-wide art jamming event, where participants came together to celebrate creativity and promote sustainable development and environmental conservation. By addressing the pressing global issue of climate change through an international lens, this project aimed to foster awareness and inspire action on a broader scale.

Engaging audiences in dynamic exchanges

As we enter 2024, “DL” unveils its latest endeavor, the “DL” Showcase. The inaugural project of the initiative involves a collaboration with renowned music composer Carl Wong. Together with an impressive lineup of artists, including Nicholas Tse, Juno Mak, Jer Lau, Jeremy Lee, Wilson Ng, and & The Duo Band, the highly anticipated “FWD Insurance Presents: Carl Wong HATS ON While the Music Lasts Concert" is orchestrated in coming March at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Through a captivating repertoire of Cantonese pop classics, “DL” pays tribute to the unsung heroes of music — the backstage musicians, composers, as well as production teams. The concert weaves together a narrative of legacy and heritage, celebrating the rich musical heritage of Hong Kong and recognising the contributions of those behind the scenes.

The “DL” team is also gearing up to launch the Everyone's Harmony audio content project in the latter half of the year. This innovative initiative invites representatives from diverse sectors to lead discussions on specific topics, sharing their valuable insights and experiences. Simultaneously, it provides listeners with a platform to respond and share their own voices and thoughts, fostering an environment of active listening and meaningful dialogue. With the goal of creating an interactive platform that combines online content with offline interactions, “DL” will also conduct sharing sessions in schools, focusing on promoting Cyber Wellness and Mental Health. Through these efforts, “DL” aims to rediscover the warmth of human connections in an era dominated by the internet, particularly among the younger generations.

Reflecting on “DL”'s founding objectives, director Yuk Wong emphasises the team's commitment to positively responding to the contemporary voice through creativity. The vision is to bring together not only the “DL” team but also cultural and creative units from various regions, fostering collaboration and inclusivity.

In fact, the “D” in “DL” symbolises an emerging force in the Creative Industries, fueling anticipation for the team's future endeavors and the impact they will continue to make.
