The Clansmen Associations Hometown Market Carnival will make its return to Victoria Park from 1 to 5 June, marking its third consecutive year in the city. This year’s event will feature nearly 300 booths, over 1.1 million local snacks and traditional crafts from across China, and close to 200 cultural performances to boost local economy.
Organised by around 30 clansmen associations, the five-day carnival aims to celebrate regional culture, boost local consumption, and strengthen hometown pride among Hong Kong residents. New additions include an emerging technology zone and a sports competition experience area, designed to appeal to younger audiences and families.
Performers from across China will present regional arts at the event, including Inner Mongolian pastoral songs and Wudang Tai Chi. Traditional opera enthusiasts can attend performances by masters of Peking Opera, Yue Opera, and Huangmei Opera. Additionally, lively cultural displays such as Northeast Yangko dance and Guangxi Zhuang song fairs will feature in the programme.
The beloved "Chinese food street" will return with 300 booths serving iconic dishes, from Xinjiang lamb skewers to Sichuan’s spicy Bobo chicken, ensuring a culinary journey through China’s diverse provinces.
The celebration also extends beyond traditional flavours, introducing a technology innovation zone that includes an AI-powered health experience area, a VR visual immersion zone, and live robot dog performances to engage younger visitors.
Supporting this year's National Games, organisers have introduced a sports zone themed "Dynamic National Games, Joyful Gathering in Victoria Park". The grassland area features 35 experience stalls and five interactive areas offering football, baseball, pickleball, VR dragon boat racing and more, blending sports discovery with shopping.
The event will be open from 11am to 9pm from 1 to 4 June, and from 11am to 6pm on 5 June. Admission fees for adults are HK$5, while children under 1.2 metres, senior citizens aged 60 or above, and persons with disabilities can enter for free.
Sze Ching-lau, the vice-chairman of the working committee for the fair, stated that the carnival intends to provide a platform for citizens to obtain deeper insights into local culture and the nation’s development.
