Google Cloud has appointed Karim Siregar (pictured) as its new country director for Indonesia, bringing an experienced digital transformation leader into a role that will oversee the company's local operations, market strategy, and AI-driven growth agenda.
In the position, Siregar will work across teams to help organisations accelerate the adoption of cloud and AI technologies. He will report to Mark Micallef, managing director for Southeast Asia at Google Cloud.
The appointment comes as Indonesian businesses move beyond AI experimentation and increasingly seek practical applications capable of delivering measurable business outcomes at scale, the company said.

"Companies in Indonesia, from large enterprises to digital-native businesses, are among the most ambitious in the region when it comes to using technology to address complex challenges," said Micallef.
"Karim's exceptional track record in building, managing, and scaling digital institutions in Indonesia makes him the ideal leader to guide our next phase of growth. His deep understanding of integrated digital systems, financial inclusion, and cross-platform collaboration will further strengthen Google Cloud's position as a trusted partner for organisations in Indonesia as they seek to maximise the opportunities of the agentic era."
Siregar joins Google Cloud after a career spanning decades across technology, digital banking, financial inclusion, and large-scale enterprise transformation initiatives.
Most recently, he served as chief information officer at BFI Finance Indonesia. Prior to that, he was the inaugural president director of Bank Jago and simultaneously served as CEO of Dkatalis Digital Labs, playing a key role in developing Bank Jago into one of Indonesia's pioneering digital banks.
His experience also includes serving as information technology director at Bank BTPN, where he oversaw technology initiatives behind mass-market platforms such as BTPN Wow! and Jenius. Earlier in his career, he held technology infrastructure leadership positions at Bank Danamon, Bank Mega, and Bank Universal.
"After spending many years in Indonesia's digital banking sector and technology ecosystem, I have come to believe that the true value of technology lies in its ability to simplify lives and deliver meaningful benefits to its users. Today, organisations in Indonesia - whether fast-growing digital-native companies or traditional enterprises - need a trusted partner to help them integrate secure AI into their customers' everyday experiences," said Siregar.
"Through initiatives such as Indonesia BerdAIa and the presence of our dedicated local security operations and data region in Jakarta, we are helping technical teams build and scale agentic solutions tailored to their needs on an open architecture, while ensuring sensitive data remains within Indonesia's borders. I hope to strengthen collaboration with customers and the local ecosystem to help accelerate a digital future that is secure, responsible, and capable of creating lasting value for the national economy."
Google Cloud's AI strategy is anchored by what it describes as a comprehensive AI stack, spanning infrastructure, Gemini models, data management capabilities, multicloud security solutions, developer platforms and tools, as well as AI agents and applications. The company said Gemini Enterprise serves as a foundation for organisations looking to build agentic AI capabilities that can improve productivity, transform operations, and unlock new sources of business value.
Indonesia has become one of Google Cloud's key markets in Southeast Asia, with customers spanning banking, telecommunications, retail, consumer industries, conglomerates, and startups. Organisations including BCA, BRI, BNI, Bank Syariah Indonesia, Alfamart, Bukalapak, Fore Coffee, Astra International, Kalbe Farma, Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison, Telkom Indonesia, XL Smart, Privy, Kata.ai, and Noice are among those leveraging Google Cloud technologies to support digital transformation initiatives.
