Cathay Pacific's general manager of digital Aldric Chau (pictured) has relocated to Singapore to take on the role of regional general manager, Southeast Asia & Oceania at Cathay.
This comes as Southeast Asia and Oceania are strategically important markets for Cathay and continue to see strong demand for both leisure and business travel.
In conversation with MARKETING-INTERACTIVE, Chau said, "Singapore provides an excellent base from which to work closely with our customers, partners and teams across these diverse markets. I am excited to be closer to the region and contribute to Cathay's continued growth and development here."
In his new role, Chau is responsible for all commercial, operational and support functions across the nine countries and more than 20 ports that Cathay Pacific serves in the region.
This includes overseeing sales and marketing, customer experience, airport operations, cargo, people and corporate functions, while working closely with local teams to support customers and strengthen Cathay's presence in each market. "A key part of the role is ensuring we continue to deliver safe, reliable and premium services while supporting the Cathay Group's broader growth ambitions across the region," he added.
His responsibilites span Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, Vietnam and Cambodia in Southeast Asia, as well as Australia and New Zealand in Oceania.
"Together, these markets form one of Cathay's most dynamic regions, characterised by strong travel demand, vibrant tourism sectors and deep business, cultural and family ties with Hong Kong. The region also plays an important role in connecting customers to Cathay's broader global network through our Hong Kong hub."
While based in Singapore, he works closely with colleagues across the region and in Hong Kong to ensure he remains connected to the needs of customers, partners and communities throughout Southeast Asia and Oceania.
He succeeds Frosti Lau, who has returned to Hong Kong to pursue other opportunities. "I am grateful for the strong foundation that Lau and our regional teams have built over the years. My focus will be on building on that momentum together with our people across the region and continuing to strengthen Cathay's customer proposition and market presence."
He expressed his excitement to be in Singapore and to work alongside our talented teams across Southeast Asia and Oceania. "This is one of the world's most vibrant and fastest-growing travel regions, and it plays an increasingly important role in connecting people, businesses and communities across Asia-Pacific and beyond."
"Having held a range of commercial, operations, digital and people leadership roles at Cathay, I have had the privilege of witnessing our business evolve and transform over the years. Most recently, leading our digital function reinforced the importance of understanding changing customer expectations and leveraging data and technology to deliver more seamless, personalised and connected experiences," he added.
"I look forward to bringing this perspective to my new role as we work closely with our customers, partners and teams across the region to build on Cathay’s strong foundations and create even better travel experiences in the years ahead."
