G-DRAGON is taking his love for McDonald’s from fan to frontman, starring in a new campaign film for the fast-food giant’s Asia-wide collaboration with the K-pop star.

The short film plays up the singer’s apparent affinity for the brand, opening with G-DRAGON leaning against an iconic McDonald’s bench as he poses for photos before showing off his McDonald’s merchandise and collectibles.

He then bites into McNuggets before heading to a McDonald’s drive-through, much to the surprise of the employees who appear shocked to see the star pull up himself.

The film goes on to reveal the latest menu item created for the collaboration, before G-DRAGON takes a bite of the burger and McNuggets to close out the spot.

The collaboration, which begins across 13 Asian markets from 17 September, was developed by McDonald’s Korea and centres on a new Gochujang butter sauce. Participating markets will feature the sauce in different menu offerings.

MARKETING-INTERACTIVE has reached out for more information on market-specific rollout plans.

The partnership also extends beyond the menu, with G-DRAGON’s label PEACEMINUSONE set to release limited-edition merchandise with McDonald’s later this month. Further details on the collection are expected to be revealed closer to its release.

In a separate video shared by McDonald’s Philippines, G-DRAGON addressed fans across Asia, saying he was happy to become a model for a brand he has always loved and encouraged fans to show the collaboration plenty of love and “enjoy every bite”.

The G-DRAGON collaboration is not McDonald’s first foray into K-pop fandom. In 2021, the brand partnered with BTS for its first celebrity signature order programme outside the US, taking the BTS Meal across nearly 50 marketsincluding Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines and South Korea. At the time, McDonald’s Asia said the collaboration benefited from strong organic fan interest, with some markets recording sales well above projections.

More recently, McDonald’s has continued to blend K-pop, food and collectability. In 2025, McDonald’s Singapore and Malaysia brought TinyTAN, the animated characters inspired by BTS, into Happy Meals, while McDonald’s Hong Kong partnered with BABYMONSTER on a McCrispy campaign and limited-edition collectibles.
